What makes our Victoria Massage Therapy team different? At Achieve Health, we have established a team of multidisciplinary health care providers that take a holistic approach to our clients’ well being.
Helping You Feel Your Best
Our Registered Massage Therapists are trained to offer therapeutic massage for a wide range of problems, and form an important part of your regular health team. We treat the cause of your injury, as well as any resulting strains and aches to help you feel your best. Through manipulation of soft tissue and joints, massage therapists can offer improved health and optimal performance. Our RMT’s are licensed and regulated to practice in British Colombia, and participate in regular continuing education courses to keep our team current so we can provide the best possible service to our clients. Our massage therapists assess and treat their patients using a number of different techniques, resulting in a customized treatment plan specifically designed with each client in mind.
Massage Therapy Provides Many Benefits:
- Reduce muscle swelling and inflammation
- Chronic and acute pain relief
- Reduce spasms or tension in muscles
- Help prevent injuries and expedite healing post injury
- Manage stress and relieve headaches
Who Can Benefit from Massage Therapy?
Massage Therapy targets both musculoskeletal and neurological pain. That means that its benefits can treat people from any walk of life:
Athletes
Whether professional or recreational, athletes of all levels can benefit from the services of a qualified massage therapist. Injury, strain or even posture issues can lead to muscle aches and pains – detracting from both performance and quality of life. Our RMT’s have experience working with high level athletes, and have the skills and techniques to keep you moving. Sports enthusiasts who participate in massage therapy enjoy relief from aches and strains, improved healing time and fewer injuries.
Injuries from Motor Vehicles and Other Accidents:
Many accident victims require massage therapy as a part of their healing process. We can provide relief from muscle strains resulting from slip and fall injuries, motor vehicle accidents or workplace injuries. Your registered massage therapist (RMT) will assess your problem areas and develop a treatment plan to get you up and around as soon as possible.
Pre-Natal Care
Massage therapy can be incorporated into the ongoing health care program for expecting women. Treatment can range from a one-time visit to relieve discomfort and stress, to a regular regime of treatments designed to manage ongoing challenges and prevent new ones. A therapeutic massage can be especially helpful to women who suffer from pre-existing chronic back or neck pain. In these cases, your massage therapist can target specific problem areas as well as supporting your changing body and the stress that goes along with pregnancy.
Post Surgical Treatment
Massage Therapy is often prescribed as soon as possible after surgeries. This is because the sooner we can get the patient moving, the better their range of motion will be long term. We have experience treating patients that have recently undergone surgery, and strive to expedite recovery, while offering pain management and patient support at the same time.
Aches and Pains
Whether you work in an office, on a construction site or in a classroom – there are occupational hazards that include aches and sprains from overuse.
- Neck strain
- Back aches
- Sore legs
- Shoulder pain
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Many people think that massage therapy is only for athletes or people with serious injuries, but it can be helpful to just about anyone who suffers from aches and strains. RMT’s know how to work those muscles out and help ease the pain from everyday use. Your treatment may consist of one or two sessions – or a number of treatments over the course of several weeks. Ultimately, our goal is to have you pain free and back to your regular daily life as soon as possible.
Common Questions:
What Can I Expect at My First Visit?
At your first visit you can expect to complete some basic intake forms, followed by a consultation with your massage therapist. Your therapist will assess your needs and discuss your goals and objectives for treatment. From there, your RMT will develop a treatment plan and proceed with the massage therapy. Post therapy, you may be instructed to complete exercises or stretches to help maintain the effects of massage treatment and to improve your overall condition.
Will Treatment be Covered by My Health Plan?
Massage Therapy is often covered by private health insurance plans, and can often be covered by ICBC and Workers Compensation plans as well.
Will Treatment be Painful?
Your treatment aims to improve pain and mobility, so there will be some manipulation of your trouble area. Some people feel relief from this pressure and motion, while others find it slightly uncomfortable. Your therapist will encourage you to be vocal about your comfort level, and will modify treatment accordingly.
