About Massage Therapy

Conditions treated

Massage therapy is effective treatment for all manner of neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including carpal tunnel, low back pain, any neck discomfort, frozen shoulder, tendonitis, plantar fascitis, knee or ankle pain, headaches, etc.

Practitioner training

In British Columbia, massage therapists must graduate from a 3300 hour program before being examined and registered with the provincial licensing board, the College of Massage Therapists of BC.

Advantages of massage therapy

Massage therapy is a natural, non-invasive, drug-free way to treat many chronic and acute musculoskeletal dysfunctions. It increases circulation, can be used as part of a pain-management program, and promotes physical and emotional well-being.

Specific techniques

Specific massage therapy services and techniques we use at Achieve Health include the following:

What to expect on your first visit

Your first massage therapy visit will include a case history interview followed by assessment. Once the treatment plan has been agreed upon, the you will be given instructions and privacy to get settled on the table. Eric will then proceed with the treatment, ending with self-care recommendations and possibly reassessment.

Frequency of treatment

The frequency of treatments is determined on a case to case basis depending on the needs of each individual.

Medical plan coverage of massage therapy

Those on Medical Savings Plan (MSP) premium assistance may be eligible for limited coverage of massage therapy. We can use your care card number to check if you are eligible for such coverage.

Many extended health care plans offer coverage for massage therapy. Coverage varies among providers and plans. It is best to check with your benefits manager.

We accept WCB, ICBC, and DVA coverage.

Other questions you may have

What should I wear to my massage therapy treatment?
Massage works best when the techniques are applied directly to bare skin, although an effective treatment may be administered through clothing. Some people choose to disrobe completely, others prefer to bare only the affected area. While on the table, you will be covered with a sheet at all times and this sheet will be draped appropriately to allow access to the area to be treated. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and secure on the table. We can work together to determine what is best for you.
